The Critical Issues in Trauma Resolution seminar addresses the ACE study, and its significance and trauma informed care. The critical issues for trauma resolution are addressed.

Continuing education designed for Psychologists, Social Workers and Mental Health care professionals, this seminar introduces SAMSHA-evidence-based techniques in the resolution of PTSD and trauma-related disorders. This seminar incorporates actual client session audio and video throughout.

1) Contrast the roles of the amygdala & hippocampus with respect to trauma reactivation

a) The ACE study and the distinction between adversity and trauma

b) How benign and painful memories differ affectively and cognitively

c) The roles of the amygdala and hippocampus in reaction, storage and expression

2) Compare primary & secondary conditioned responses and present vs absent flashbacks

a) How stimulus and response differ from cause and effect

b) The “mindlessness” of the conditioned response, obvious and subliminal triggers

c) Primary and secondary incidents in sequence by association

3) Distinguish between coping or management procedures and trauma resolution (TIR)

a) Who is and isn’t eligible for the Traumatic Incident Reduction/resolution process

b) Through the arousal curve: start to peak stress to resolution (session audio/video)

c) The essential elements of resolution and what it looks like, feels like (video)

This program is approved by the National Association of Social Workers, Provider #886415259 and approved for 4 NAADAC CEU’s, Provider #110444. The continuing education credits for this program may also be submitted to the Association of Traumatic Stress Specialists towards certification and re-certificating as a Trauma Specialist, a Trauma Responder, and a Trauma Service Specialist.

Participants will be provided with documentation of credit hours that may be used in securing CE credits from their respective licensure boards and/or professional associations.
